What is Supervision?

Supervision is a sacred pause — a quiet, reflective space where spiritual directors can bring the fullness of their practice: the wonder, the questions, the places that feel tender or unclear. It is not an evaluation of your performance. It is companionship for your soul as you companion others.

As your supervisor, I offer support, accountability, and gentle guidance to help you navigate the complexities of accompanying others on their spiritual journeys — while also tending to your own formation as a director. My training through Maria Tattu Bowen's Together in the Mystery program shapes the way I show up for this work: contemplative, compassionate, and attentive to the ways God is already moving in your experience, often before we have words for it.

Whether you're a new spiritual director finding your footing, or an experienced one seeking ongoing depth, supervision can strengthen your effectiveness, your discernment, and your capacity to hold healthy boundaries in your ministry.

My Approach to Supervision

I hold supervision as holy ground. My approach is contemplative, collaborative, and rooted in trust — a space where we slow down enough to notice what's really happening, both in your work with directees and within you.

In our time together, you can expect to:

  • Reflect honestly on your directees and the dynamics that arise between you
  • Bring challenges, questions, and uncertainties without fear of judgment
  • Notice patterns, blind spots, and edges that are inviting growth
  • Deepen your understanding of spiritual direction theory and practice
  • Tend to your own spiritual formation as a director
  • Celebrate the quiet, often unseen victories in your ministry
  • This is not a place to perform competence. It's a place to be human, to be a director who is also still being formed — and to trust that the Mystery is present in that, too.

Who Can Benefit

Supervision is valuable for spiritual directors who are:

  • Recently certified and just beginning their practice
  • Experienced directors seeking ongoing depth and development
  • Encountering a difficult or unclear situation with a directee
  • Wanting to grow their skills, presence, and discernment
  • Seeking accountability and steady support in their ministry
  • Required by their certifying organization to participate in supervision

What Directors Say

It is unbelievable how much spiritual progress I have made and how many difficult experiences I have gotten past in the short time since meeting Andrea. I have had psychologists and counselors who understood me and helped, but none with the...
